Building materials including bricks, tiles, cement and wire cannot be recycled through your yellow recycling bin.
As these materials are hard and heavy, they cause damage to the trucks and machinery at the materials recycling facility (MFR).
The MRF is designed to process paper, cardboard, rigid plastics, glass as well as metal cans, lids, pots and pans. It is not designed to process heavy building material.
Building materials need to be delivered to a transfer station for processing and recycling. If you are completing a home renovation you may consider hiring a skip to collect building materials in.
