WHICH BIN TIPS
Drop it off: electronic waste
Electronic waste, like TVs, phones, computers and cables, can be recycled – just not through your yellow bin.
If you have an electronic device that’s no longer in working condition, there are a few drop-off options:
- Electronic Recycling Australia’s Unplug n’ Drop initiative accepts anything that is domestic, plugs into a power point, uses a charger or is powered by battery. Find your nearest drop-off point and see a list of accepted items.
- Mobile Muster accepts all brands and types of mobile phones, plus their batteries, chargers and accessories. There are many drop-off locations across South Australia and items can also be mailed in, free of charge.
- Some councils have electronic waste collection points, accepting a range of items. Contact your local council to find out if this service is available.
Under the Environment Protection (Waste to Resources) Policy 2010, it is illegal to send electronic waste items to landfill – so be sure to recycle them properly.
